Matt was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 28, 1979. He grew up in Marietta,
Georgia with two older brothers and his parents John and Rita who just
celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. After high school, Matt attended
Auburn University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Administration (Aviation Management Flight Education). In January of 2002, Matt
was hired at Atlantic Southeast Airlines in Atlanta and is presently a Captain
with the airline.
Influenced by his father, Matt has always been fascinated with fishing. He first
learned how to fish on Lake Hartwell at a very young age. Matt grew up fishing
everything from neighborhood ponds and
creeks
to big
bodies of water. His family kept a boat on Lake
Lanier allowing him
to gain knowledge and experience in bass
fishing. In January 2007,
Matt decided to take bass angling to
the next level and he joined
the
American Bass Anglers
tournament trail. Today, Matt competes
on the American
Fishing Tour and the Bassmaster Weekend
Series. In his
first full season on the Tour, Matt had five top
ten
finishes,
a solid finish in the Southeast Region Championship
a and qualified
for the National Championship. In the
National
Championship Matt finished in the Top 25 as a co-angler.
Matt currently lives in Hiram, Georgia and is supported by
his
wonderful family. He has a six year old daughter named Addison.
She is a
little timid when it comes to fishing but Matt believes she
has potential to
become a great lady angler.
Matt is dedicated to the sport of bass fishing and has a passion
for
learning
innovative techniques, using the latest tackle and fishing
new waters.
